Freddy’s DOGGY FASHION Show: No-Kill Benefit & Street party.
Sat Jul 15 @
Advance Press so Far!
SAVE a PUP! DRINK UP!
This year we’ll be even bigger and better,” says Freddy’s co-owner and paw-ganizer Donald O’Finn. “We’re adding GREAT Local live music and increasing the production values including a higher stage so even the most petite pups will be visible to the crowd.” O’Finn also counsels dog owners to think big. “We encourage all contestants to work it, because you get only one entrance. There is no such thing as too extreme.” First prize is the coveted Xena trophy, named in memory of O’Finn’s beloved pit mix, a stray who went on to become a Freddy’s regular for 20 years.
Beer and food specials for Man & Beast a-like. Party starts at 5pm on 5th Ave between 17th & 18th Street, in the Street in front of the famous Freddy’s Bar & Backroom. The Runway show is scheduled to start at 6pm. There will be the usual Raised platform Cat-Walk Runway (Even Longer & Higher this year!, the Red carpet and the Step & Repeat wall for press and pictures.
Fashion forward Fido’s will be taking it to the streets to strut their stuff on the “catwalk.”

“…the focus will be on the canines on the catwalk as they vie for the “Best Dressed” title. … take home free giveaways, and their owners can drink to a good cause: Freddy’s plans to donate a portion of the day’s beer sales to a local no-kill animal shelter.”~ NY Times
“Pups strutted their stuff at the second annual Doggy Fashion Show at Park Slope watering hole Freddy’s Bar and the owner of the top dog said he was star-struck just walking beside his prize pooch on the runway.
“It was the most celebrity moment I’ve experienced in my life, just being near her, because cameras were flashing,” said Erik Satre of Cobble Hill, whose shih tzu-poodle mix Harley won first place. Harley took the competition by storm in a princess tiara and a costume Satre said he constructed out of Crown Royal whiskey bags, which drew plenty of howls and wolf-whistles from the audience.”~ N.Y. Times
“The crowd was really good and supportive, and everyone was congratulating every dog,” Satre said. (http://www.brooklynpaper.com/stories/38/30/dtg-doggy-fashion-show-2015-07-24-bk.htm
